Editor's Note

(Editor’s Note: These events are directly related to the January 12th blog “What The F**k Now?”)

(Editor’s Note: There is no Editor).

As I swore to myself on January 12th, Mike, Karmin, and I got our asses in gear and headed to Norwalk to shoot/practice/fail/succeed as we saw fit. We had three ideas, and they were as follows:

1- A poem shot as artsy-fartsy as was necessary.
2- A silly skit starring Mike.
3- A “How To” video of my own devising.

(Editor’s Note: There was actually a fourth idea that wasn‘t written down in time to be remembered).

As the day progressed… we only did one and half of our planned “shot list.” We shot the entire poem, using myriad lights and filters. This took the lion’s share of the work today, and barely left us time to shoot the first half of Mike’s skit. But, all in all, today was a success in my book. And we can get to my “How To” vid at some point, I’m in no rush. I just wanted to shoot something today, and we did.

And not only did we shoot an entire project, we also learned some stuff along the way. Namely, whatever it takes to make something work, whether it be a certain shot or a use of light, then do it.

Afterwards, before she went home, Karmin dropped Mike off near his car. Mike came back to the studio to do some editing, while I remained at Norwalk for a bit longer to catch up on my blogs. I was getting close to being three days behind, and I’ve already been 4 months behind once before.

(Editor’s Note: It might have actually been FIVE months behind).

I then went over to Amy’s place to watch the last three or so episodes of the first season of Angel with Amy and Aaron. It was a pretty good bunch of last episodes for the season, and now we can’t wait to start watching Buffy Season Five and Angel Season Two.

Oh yeah, tomorrow is a Holiday! I completely forgot.

(Editor’s Note: Nathan could not come up with a decent title for this blog entry).

(Editor’s Note: The “Topics of Conversation” are probably Nate’s favorite section of his blogs).

(Editor’s Note: We are aware that really is no reason for the “-Nate” at the end of every blog. It’s a waste of time. Sorry).

And On the Sixth Day There Was Quiz

(Summer School: Day Six)

Had my first Quiz in Physical Anthropology. Yeah. Look at the words in parentheses above. It says “Summer School: Day Six.” Freakin’ DAY SIX. I’m not sure how I did. I didn’t feel that good about it. Neither did I feel that terrible about it. I’m just not a big fan of quizzes and tests. I never feel like all the facts get organized in my brain. Its just a messy warehouse up here.

Headed to Norwalk, and spent the rest of day trying to make sure I got both my work done and read up on my next essay.

Topics of Conversation: The dreaming of a strange dream, blackmail for friendship, AX is ruining everything, Science Noir, fun with taxes, cat in Arizona, the meaning behind a map, Fullerton is for the cool kids, etc.

Another Day

This morning, I worked for PCTA on a City Works video. This time they were talking about Emergency Preparedness. Its been odd how this has been coming up so consistently in my life. I think I should take it as a sign that I better get ready for some unfortunate turn of events. Well, at least I know how to crib debris off someone.

I headed to Norwalk, with yet another shoot awaiting me. It was another City Council Meeting. It was an uneventful one, at that. These past days have been same old, same old. Sorry that they’re not more action packed. Hopefully the next days start getting more intriguing.

Topics of Conversation: Terrorist hunters, small town robbery, reporter gigs, working the Jib, flues to avoid, when you’re actually looking for a Starbucks, the same story about dismemberment, old timey, etc.

FBI Warning

Twiddling my thumbs and shaking my head as I send out resume after resume into the void that is the job application process. I've never been one to have a great memory when it comes to addresses and phone numbers. Especially concerning jobs I had years ago. My reference sections always seem thin on information, and I have no doubt that very few employers are liking the part of the section where I state that I am still currently employed at my job in Norwalk.

So this morning was spent looking for, and applying to, various jobs in the restaurant, customer service, film, non-profit, for-profit, my-profit, etc., etc. fields. I was pretty bored with my own resume at this point, and ready to go to the sweet occupation I already have. Thank you, City of Norwalk, for employing my nearly-depressed butt. But as I was still on my computer, wasting other people's time on facebook, I noticed that little ad on the side bar about the FBI hiring.

What? Really? Can I be Mulder? What about Scully?

There was a time in High School that I honestly considered being an FBI agent. Special Agent Nathan Schulz. That doesn't sound awful, right? And I had watched enough X-Files to think that I might even have a shot getting the weird cases. Cuz, I'll be honest... I ain't into going undercover, or busting people on weed rings, or the awful things that are out there. I was down for two possible assignments:

1. The X-Files (or any equivalent). I would love to get involved in the weird cases. I'm not concerned with other FBI Agents thinking I'm cool or someone they want to drag along on some cocaine bust. No thanks. I want the unsolved/strange case of "The Reptile Man of Santa Barbara" or "Weather Balloon Crash of '88." That would be awesome.

2. The FBI Warning Agent. I wanted to be the agent that is directly involved with whoever has to deal with this. Not as a career, or anything. Just to say I was one of the Agents that you were warned about in the beginning of every movie I had ever seen. That would be funny, and would have to offer up at least one awesome story.

At Norwalk, we had to shoot a Council meeting. And for those that are fans of continuity and re-occurring characters, Sam Darling was there. No crazy long night this time, but just a pleasant reminder of a ridiculous night. But after the shoot, I had a fun talk with co-workers Mike and Karmin.

Topics of Conversation @ Norwalk: Tuxedo T-shirts, tattoos, Sam Darling, In-N-Out flirting, thumb caressing, moving out, Peace-Love-Death Metal, Star Wars clips, fake heads, fat flying, Buddy Holly, The Whitest Kids U Know, dancing like muppets and Peanuts characters, pausing in thought, awkward pantomiming, etc.

New Comics tomorrow! Commence happy jig.
